James Sprinkle

Mr. James E. Sprinkle is the Executive Director of Facilities Management for the Coral Gables, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and Richmond Campuses within the Real Estate and Facilities Division. He joined the University in 2008 as Sr. Manager, Facilities Operations with over 25 years of maintenance management, marketing and business development expertise. Since his arrival he has served as the Director of Energy Operations and Director of Facilities Management prior to becoming the Executive Director in 2013.

James and his facilities teams oversees all reactive and preventative maintenance needs for the academic and residential zones, facilities work control, utilities infrastructure, energy management, fire safety, access control, environmental services and maintenance contract management. His teams' primary goal is to provide a high quality customer service experience in a cost effective manner to meet the expectations of the University’s common purpose.

James began his professional career in aviation maintenance and flight operations with the United States Air Force and continued to develop his maintenance and operational expertise in commercial aviation.  His career development included assignments with increasing responsibility in both maintenance and engineering as a Flight Mechanic, Field Systems Maintenance Engineer, Heavy Aircraft and Power Plant Maintenance Inspector, Sr. Operations & Maintenance Controller, Director of Maintenance, Director of Quality Assurance and Chief Operations Officer. In addition to his aviation certifications and professional licenses, he has completed professional courses in business operations, business management, energy management and LEED. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College, the Community College of the Air Force, Lander University, the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, University of Miami, and Thomas Edison University.
